Birchbox.

My October Birchbox was pretty fab this month. A nice pick me up, since last month's was a little bit of a disappointment. Friend Sara seconds me on this one too. We both threw out our random glitter stick on nails instantly last month. Best friends think alike.

If you haven't signed up for Birchbox yet and you like beauty goodies delivered to your doorstep, you need to get on it. Sign up at Birchbox.com and you'll get some fun things to try once a month. And the sample sized hand lotions and lip balms are perfect for the purse.

It's happiness on your doorstep right around the 10th of the month.....every month. All wrapped in fabulous pink tissue.

Everything arrives in perfect packaging.

Candy time.

In anticipation of Halloween next Monday I purchased some yummies at the CVS this weekend.
A few of my not so healthy favorites.....Junior Mints and Milk Duds.

We usually don't get many trick or treaters here at our house, maybe it's because I refuse to carve a pumpkin because husband will try to do it in less than 5 minutes and amputate a finger in the process. So I nix the jack o'lantern carving at our house. For safety reasons of course.

Apparently the front porch light and the votive candles out front aren't as appealing to the little children.

Hopefully I'll have some extra Milk Duds to keep in my purse for snacks when I'm stuck in rush hour traffic.

Cozy time.

This week was kind of dreary, with the rain and all. Plus the glistening wet streets and overcast sky made it feel like Fall finally. (Even though we technically really don't have a Fall here in Miami)

I was browsing the Anthropologie site this week and stumbled across the most beautiful silk slip and sweater  layer combo and instantly fell in love. I think I need this outfit. Wouldn't it be so perfect for lounging around the casa on boring fall weekends??? Si.

But instead of the below combo, I would switcheroo for the grey sweater below. I don't look so fab in orange.

Happy Friday. Do some lounging this weekend. Because I will!

Maui Memories

It's been well over a month since we returned from our "big" vacation of the year even though it seems like we've been out of town every other weekend since.

This summer was filled with fun girls trips, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and New Orleans. And also a few little side trips to Marco Island, the Bahamas and such. However, besides racking up many many frequent flier miles, I also got to spend some quality time with my new Nikon.

A few of my favorite shots from Maui. And I'm counting the days until husband and I go back. Hopefully the family condo in Kihei town is still waiting for us in another year. Hint hint, to my mom and aunt....please don't sell it! Maybe the Maui real estate market will stay depressed for a looooooong time. Wink.

Sick day.

Today is gross outside. Rainy, icky, gloomy. It looks like October. Or....there is just a tropical low swarming out in the southern Gulf of Mexico inundating South Florida with rain. For days.

Luckily this past weekend husband and I ventured to Washington DC for my friend Erin's wedding. It was beautiful and the bride was stunning. The food and music and weather all were simply amazing. The perfect weekend for a very sweet friend of mine.

We had so much fun minus the recirculated air on the airplane which has made us sick now. Or maybe it was the dirty looking man in the window seat next to husband hacking away.....Bottom line, air travel grosses me out. And even three Airborne later, I'm still all icky, achy and stuffy. Sadface. Being sick is no fun.

Maybe if I can pull myself out of bed I will make this for lunch? Anything simmered in chicken broth seems appropriate.

Baby Bok Choy

A few weeks ago when I dazzled the husband with my miso glazing skills I also broadened his veggie horizons by pairing the protein with some wondrous boy choy.

I think it's dubbed the Asian cabbage, somewhere I heard. And I'm too lazy to research this claim to make sure. Anyway, it's super easy and yummy to make.

Just mince some ginger (good for the tummy) and some garlic (not so good for the breath) and saute it all up with a little olive oil. Then place the baby bok choys in the pan and saute it all together until the leaves start to melt.

It genius. And so nice to add another veggie to your vocabulary.

Make sure you rinse them well.
Lots of dirtiness hides in these babies.

I added a little broccoli and scallion to this batch too.

Give me Jenny

So obviously it now looks like I did squat this weekend except stroll through wondrous amounts of Spring runway shows. Sorry, I'm just obsessed. Summer just ended and already I'm dying for Spring.

Jenny Packham's Spring 2011 collection is chock full of amazingly soft sorbet colors. It reminds me of rainbow sherbet and just as sweet. I love it all, and I had to restrain myself from overly zealous copy/pasting of every look from the show. I could look at it again and again.....it reminds me of Candy Land.

Happy Wednesday.

J. Crew Spring 2012

I'm so not a Fall/Winter person. I'll pass on itchy sweaters and boots any day of the week for something breezy, flowing and pastel. In fact, I'm not even sure I own more than 3 sweaters (cardigans don't count in my book) or a heavy jacket.

Ok, so I live in Miami. It's not like I need a lot of wool or leather. But I do venture to cold places for the holidays. Even still, I think I've been repeating the same 3 outfits for the past 5 holiday seasons spent in the Kansas City cold.....

So my wardrobe might suck by Midwest or Northeast standards. But come Spring Summer, I'm all yours.

As usual, the Spring J. Crew Collection might be the one thing that will pull me through my seasonal woes. I will stockpile my cash to buy ALL of THIS.

My usual standard.
A new seasonal peasant top.

Light yellow sequin skirt.

Must have hot pink sequin skirt. MUST.
